  • India is sending there 120 Athletes to participate in this Olympics. This figure was 37 more than the previous edition. Maximum athletes are of Athletics, Field Hockey and Shooting events. 

  • The 2016 Olympic Torch Relay was lit in Olympia  Greece, traveled to Athens & Geneva and then reached Brazil. In Brazil, the torch relay will visit more than 300 Brazilian cities and will finally reach Rio de Janeiro.

  • There is blue pitch for hockey, this was the first time ever in Olympics history.

  • Rio is a Southern America country, and this is first time in Olympics history that a Southern America country 
  • There are around 10,500 athletes from 206 countries are taking part in 17 days of the Olympiad, and they are competing across 306 events.

  • Golf is again added to Olympics after 112 years. The International Olympic Committee (IOC) decided to reinstate the sport, which previously was played in the 1900 and 1904 Games. 

  • IOC said that there are 5 to 10 refugees are competing in 2016 Rio Olympics games under the Olympics Flag. 

  • There are 7.5 million tickets, with prices ranging from $40 for some swimming events to almost $3,000 for the best seats at the opening ceremony. Most popular events so far are soccer, basketball, volleyball and handball.

  • For the first time, 85 hours of video content from the Olympics will be available in 360-degree Virtual Reality format exclusively for Samsung Gear VR devices.

  • There will be 33 different venues in four different districts of Rio de Janeiro which are Copacabana, Barra de Tijuca, Deodoro and MaracanĂ£.

  •  In 2016 Rio Olympics Games, there will be 8,000 employees, 85,000 third party employees and 45,000 volunteers working for the Olympic Committee Rio 2016.
